It is a simple change, but it is one we have wanted to make for a while. Below is everything you need to know: what qualifies, how long delivery takes, where it applies, and what happens if your order comes in under the threshold.

That is the whole thing. It applies automatically to every qualifying order placed on our website, and it is not a limited-time promotion — it is our new standard UK shipping offer.
Why Royal Mail Tracked 48?
We could have picked the cheapest untracked option and called it “free shipping”. We deliberately did not, because untracked post is only cheap right up until the moment something goes missing — and then it costs everyone their time and their patience.
Royal Mail Tracked 48 gives you a genuinely better experience for the same £0.00:
- Full tracking to the delivery point — you can follow your parcel from our workshop to your door.
- SMS and email notifications — so you know when your parcel is out for delivery rather than guessing.
- Photo on delivery — proof of exactly where your parcel was left.
- Flexible delivery options — including Safeplace and delivery to a preferred neighbour, which you can arrange before the first delivery attempt.
- Delivered by Royal Mail — to your usual postal address, by the postie who already knows your street.
In other words, free shipping that you can actually keep an eye on.
How long does Royal Mail Tracked 48 take?
Royal Mail aims to deliver Tracked 48 within two to three working days from the point it enters their network. Delivery times can vary depending on the destination postcode, and Royal Mail does not publish a delivery target for some remote areas.
It is worth remembering that this clock starts when the parcel is collected, not when you click “pay”. Add our own dispatch time on the front of that, and allow a little extra during peak periods and around bank holidays. As always, we will send you a tracking number as soon as your parcel is on its way, so you are never left wondering.
How it works at checkout
There is nothing to remember and nothing to type:
- Add what you need to your basket.
- Enter your UK delivery address at checkout.
- Once your basket total reaches £30 (excluding shipping), the free Royal Mail Tracked 48 option appears and is applied automatically.
If your basket is sitting just short of the threshold, the checkout will show you the paid shipping options as normal — so it is always clear which side of the line you are on before you pay.
Where the offer applies
This offer covers UK mainland delivery addresses. Some outlying postcodes — including the Scottish Highlands and Islands, Northern Ireland, the Isle of Man and the Channel Islands — fall outside standard Tracked 48 coverage and may be quoted separately at checkout. If you are unsure whether your postcode qualifies, pop your address in at checkout and the available shipping options will tell you straight away, or drop us a message and we will check it for you.
International customers: nothing changes for you here, and our existing worldwide shipping options — including duties prepaid at checkout for EU orders — continue exactly as before.
What if my order is under £30?
Orders below the threshold ship at our usual standard rates, which remain unchanged. You will still see the full range of shipping options at checkout, including tracked services, so you can choose whatever suits the urgency of your order. And if you are close to £30, it is often worth adding the thing you know you will need next month anyway — the shipping saving usually covers a good chunk of it.
Why we have made this change
Shipping costs are the single most common reason a basket gets abandoned, and we understand why. Watching a reasonable order total climb at the final step because of postage is a genuinely annoying way to end an otherwise good experience — and it particularly punishes people placing one considered order rather than lots of tiny ones.
Setting the threshold at £30 felt like the honest place to put it. Low enough that a typical order clears it comfortably, high enough that we can absorb a properly tracked service rather than quietly downgrading to the cheapest option available. We would rather offer free shipping that works well than free shipping that technically exists.
